Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been accusing that due to harassment by the previous YCP regime, AP failed to get any fresh investments and moreover existing investors also migrated to other states. Particularly, after YCP MP Gorantla Madhav’s attack on the Kiya factory in Anantapur district, investors were terrified.
He has been trying to assure a `royal treatment’ for investors. But the attack on Adani company in Kadapa district by forer TDP minister and presently BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s supporters leading to severe damage to Chandrababu’s image as `pro-industry’. Surprisingly, even after two weeks of the incident, he is keeping silent and no one from the government condemned this incident.
News reports indicate that the Chief Minister cautioned him much earlier about his negative attitude towards Adani company. Adani is known as closer to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and enjoys immense weightage all over the country. Even non-BJP governments also provide them ‘red carpet’ receptions. Attacking such a company is said to be sending very wrong signals to the investors.
Nowadays it has become a normal practice local MLAs and MPs have been harassing investors seeking high stakes in their investments. Such harassment only deprived YS Jaganmohan Reddy to get fresh investments.
Especially in Rayalaseema, no matter how big the brand, the company has to give jobs to those named by the local leaders. Otherwise, they have to face problems. Not only that, if those leaders are powerful, those powerful leaders will get transport contracts in those units as well as other works as per their convenience.
What is strange here is that they are trying to block the work of the pumped storage power plant being built by Adani company in Kadapa district. Now, the very fact that family members of a BJP tried to obstruct their works is sending shocking waves in the political circles too.
On the one hand, the Adani company attack incident has put TDP and Chandrababu Naidu, who are claiming to be promoting the industrial sector in the state after coming to power, in a dilemma. As he is a BJP MLA, it is also creating a gap among coalition partners.
