Central Education Department Cancel UGC-NET Exam

The NTA has made a critical decision aamid the ongoing NEET issue. The UGC has canceled the NET-2024 exam conducted on June 18 and decided to re-conduct the exam for admissions to lecturership (assistant professor), junior research fellowship, and PhD courses in universities across the country. This decision follows the UGC’s conclusion that there were irregularities in the UGC NET examination.

The Ministry of Education stated that the cancellation was necessary to maintain transparency in examinations. A CBI inquiry has been ordered to investigate the irregularities. The Union Education Ministry emphasized its commitment to transparency. Approximately 9 lakh candidates took the exam at 1,205 centers nationwide on Tuesday. Additionally, the Centre addressed allegations of a NEET paper leak, deciding to cancel the grace marks awarded to affected students. Police are investigating NEET irregularities in Patna, and the Bihar government will take further action based on the initial evidence of misconduct.
