Brahmanandam Advocates Freedom for Grown Children, Stresses Importance of Humility

Veteran actor Brahmanandam has urged parents not to control their children once they reach adulthood. Speaking at the success meet of his latest film Brahma Anandam, which features him alongside his son Raja Goutham and comedian Vennela Kishore, he shared his thoughts on parenting and his approach to roles in cinema.
Addressing the media, Brahmanandam reflected on his recent film choices, stating, “Lately, I have been playing shorter roles or guest appearances. In Brahma Anandam, I have a more substantial role, and I will continue to take on such characters in the future. My role in Game Changer may have seemed small in the teaser, but it is actually quite significant.”
He explained why he continues to accept cameo roles, saying, “Many young directors approach me and say, ‘Sir, we grew up watching you. It would be an honor to direct you, even if it’s a small role.’ How can I turn them down? These directors are just budding talents, and I don’t want to discourage them. At the same time, I cannot demand only major roles. If my presence brings them joy and helps their film, that’s enough for me.”
Brahmanandam also emphasized the importance of humility in the film industry. “Just because my name is associated with a film doesn’t mean audiences will automatically rush to watch it. A film succeeds only if it is good. No one should let success go to their head. If you walk around boasting about your greatness, it will only weigh you down. Staying grounded is essential.”
Sharing his personal philosophy on parenting, he made a strong appeal to parents. “Once children cross the age of 20-25, no parent should try to control them. Set them free. If they have wings, they will learn to fly. The more restrictions we impose, the more likely they are to go astray. That is my belief.”
Revealing his own parenting approach, he said, “From the day they were born until now, I have never once raised my hand on my children or scolded them harshly. Controlling them is not in our hands, and even if we try, it doesn’t guarantee they will never make mistakes. I have never interfered in Raja Goutham’s script choices for this very reason.”
