Samajavaragamana and Baby dominated the Tollywood box office in July. Among several releases, only these two films brought cheer to buyers in all territories. While Samajavaragamana set the cash registers ringing in USA, Baby stormed the domestic ticket windows with phenomenal numbers.
Sree Vishnu’s Samajavaragamana received unanimous reviews from its paid premieres and resulted in decent openings after its release on June 29th. The glowing word mouth and less competition gave the film edge over other releases. The entertaining elements played a significant role in drawing crowds to theatres. The film emphatically joined the million-dollar club in USA. In the Telugu States, it grossed close to 50 Crores to emerge as a big hit.
Anand Devarakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya starrer Baby emerged as a triple blockbuster at the box office. Due to aggressive promotions and strong word of mouth, the film pulled in sensational numbers in the first weekend. No stopping there, it extended the momentum as there are no other notable releases. In USA, Baby surpassed the half-a-million-dollar mark and turned out to be a tremendous hit. In Telugu States, the film crossed the 60 Crore mark in three weeks.
Naga Shaurya’s Rangabali failed to create even an iota of impact at the box office as it was outrightly rejected by moviegoers due to poor script and lackluster narration. Other films like Bhaag Saale and Hidimba, which generated some buzz due to strong promotions, couldn’t recover the expenses.
Hollywood tentpole film Oppenheimer managed to secure good openings as multiplex audiences in cities thronged the theatres on the first two days.
Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej starrer ‘Bro’ opened to mixed reports last Friday. The overall box office verdict of this film will be known in a few more days.
