Last Friday witnessed a couple of small to medium-budget flicks’ releases and guess what neither of the movies created buzz and Kantara still going great guns in Telugu. The updated report from the completed weekend explains everything.
Among the released films, Allu Sirish’s ‘Urvasivo Rakshasivo’ appeared to be leading the pack, and the fact that the hero returned to the silver screen after three years increased the hype. Despite romantic and comical promos, the movie failed to impress big and was declared a dud at the end of its release day. After the end of its first weekend, the movie collected a distributor share of just over 1.5 crores.
On the other hand, Kannada sensation Kantara managed to generate more revenue for the distributors by collecting a gross of 3 crores making the total gross of Telugu version 45 crores with a distributor share of 24 crores. This is said to be an exceptional run for a dubbed film in Telugu. Directed and acted by Rishab Shetty, the movie ended up as the biggest hit of Kannada surpassing the footfalls of mighty flick KGF-2, and is rocking the North belt as well.
Telugu movie pundits are warning the Telugu makers at this juncture as the hit ratio in the second half of 2022’s releases happened to be low. Except for Godfather, no hyped project became a hit and Tollywood wanted to witness at least two superhits before the end of this year.
As of now, Samantha’s Yashoda is looking to be confident at the box office as the trailer impressed big.
