Amaravati: TDP politburo member Varla Ramaiah has filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against former education minister Botsa Satyanarayana, following allegations of bribery related to teacher transfers.
Ramaiah claimed that Botsa, along with his personal assistant and a key officer in the Commissionerate of Education, collected money from teachers under the false pretense of transferring them to their preferred locations. Accompanied by party spokesperson Sheik Rafi and others, Ramaiah went to the Director General (DG) of the ACB to file the complaint.
Since the DG was not available, the complaint was handed over to Ravi Prakash, an SP rank officer in the ACB. According to the complaint, Rs 60 crore was allegedly collected from 1,600 teachers with the promise of favorable transfers. Ramaiah noted that with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in effect, such transfers were not legally permissible. Botcha and his assistant reportedly assured teachers they could join their new positions immediately after the election. However, following a change in government after the elections, all the illegally arranged transfers were halted.
