Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MP Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board member Manne Jeevan Reddy announced their resignation from the K Chandrashekar Rao-led party and joined the Congress in New Delhi on Tuesday. Venkatesh Netha, a first-time Lok Sabha MP from Peddapalli, cited his admiration for the six guarantees implemented by the Revanth Reddy government as the reason for his decision. They were warmly welcomed into the Congress by general secretary KC Venugopal, alongside several Telangana Congress leaders, including PCC president and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Venkatesh Netha anticipates securing a Congress ticket for the Peddapalli Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming 2024 elections. This move follows another significant defection from the BRS, as senior lawmaker Thatikonda Rajaiah from the Station Ghanpur assembly constituency and former deputy chief minister also resigned from the party recently. Rajaiah is in talks to join the Congress and is currently negotiating for a ticket to contest the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
