Actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling NTR’s vision of “Society is the temple, and the people are the gods” at the Euphoria Musical Night event held in Vijayawada. Organized by the NTR Trust at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, the event aimed to support thalassemia patients.
Speaking at the event, Balakrishna announced the inauguration of a Pediatric Oncology Ward at Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad, equipped with advanced medical facilities. “My father, NTR, established this hospital to provide medical care to the underprivileged. It took nearly a decade to complete, and we remain committed to his vision of serving society,” he said. He also emphasized the ongoing efforts of the NTR Memorial Trust, NTR Blood Bank, and Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in providing healthcare and educational services.
Addressing concerns over thalassemia, Balakrishna noted that India has a high number of affected children, with approximately 3,500 patients in Hyderabad alone. “Under our trust, we provide free treatment to 250 children through the eight-bed NTR Thalassemia Care Center, which we are now expanding to 25 beds. Additionally, a Thalassemia Care Center will be established in Amaravati, and we seek public support for this initiative,” he added.
The event also featured a musical performance by composer Thaman, whom Balakrishna acknowledged as part of the Nandamuri family. “Music transcends social barriers, and certain melodies even have healing properties. I appreciate the overwhelming response from the audience and thank the public, supporters, and the police department for making this event a success,” he concluded.
