James Cameron’s Avatar series remains one of the largest screen events in the history of global cinema. The follow-up film, Avatar: The Way of Water, which released in 2022, awed viewers with its stunning visual effects and went sensation at worldwide box office, placing it among the top-grossing films ever.
Now, just before the much-anticipated Avatar 3 releases this December, the creators have dropped a thrilling surprise for the fans. Avatar 2: The Way of Water will be coming back to cinemas for a unique one-week re-release from October 3. This step is being taken to allow fans a second chance to experience the epic on the big screen. But it remains to be seen if Indian cinemas also join this re-release.
The first Avatar made history with its several re-releases and broke unprecedented box office records globally. With this move, the fans are now waiting to know how Avatar 2 will do during its brief run at the theaters. In the meantime, the eagerly-awaited Avatar 3 has now been officially booked for a grand global release on December 19, 2025.
