AP Secretariat employees are embroiled in a controversy. They organized a drink party to win the posts of Secretariat Employees Canteen Director and to entice voters. After receiving information that several employees were supplying alcohol without permission, the Excise Police raided the premises of Secretariat Employees Association leader Venkatrami Reddy and arrested Venkatrami Reddy in the middle of the night.

A drink party was organized for employees in Kondapavuluri Garden in Tadepalli area of  Guntur district to influence the employees. According to excise rules permission must be obtained from the excise department before organizing such drink parties. Excise officials received information at 11 pm on Thursday that the party was being held without any permission.

With this, they searched Kondapavuluri Garden along with the local police. Excise officials said that it was against the rules as there were five full bottles of liquor there. However, the employees said that they were not aware of this and that they had come at the invitation of Venkatrami Reddy. Following this, the police registered a case against Venkatrami Reddy and arrested him.

Excise Enforcement AES Suryanarayana and Guntur Excise AES Mariababu participated in these raids. A drug and banquet party was organized in the backdrop of the Secretariat canteen elections. A total of 28 people are competing for the 10 director posts. 11 people are competing from the Venkatrami Reddy faction.

However, Venkatrami Reddy acted more as a YSRCP activist than an employee leader. He is currently under suspension for campaigning on behalf of the YSRCP during the general elections. Opponents are alleging that Venkatrami Reddy organized a drug party to influence the employees as he is currently unable to enter the Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Excise Branch police have registered a case against Venkatrami Reddy for arranging drinks and a feast for the employees to help some directors win in the elections. The fact that government employees themselves are acting against the rules has become a topic of discussion.
