Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court, on February 8, granted conditional bail to Janipally Srinivasa Rao, also known as “Kodi Kathi Srinu,” who allegedly attacked current Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam airport in 2018. Srinu, accused of assaulting Jagan with a “kodi kathi” knife used in cockfights, was released on a personal bond of ₹25,000 and two sureties of the same amount after spending over five years in jail.

The incident occurred when Jagan, then the Leader of the Opposition, visited the VIP lounge for refreshments, where Srinu, working as a waiter, requested a selfie before attacking him. The bail conditions require Srinu to report to Mummidivaram Police Station every Sunday and refrain from media statements, while cooperating with the trial court.
