Amaravati: The Telangana High Court has granted an extension to the trial period in cases concerning Jagan’s alleged disproportionate assets. Additionally, the court instructed the CBI court to address the discharge petitions by April 30, as per a recent order issued on Thursday. Currently, the CBI court is reviewing 130 discharge petitions filed by Jagan and other defendants seeking relief from the charges. With the trial ongoing for an extended duration, the Telangana High Court has intervened, mandating the CBI court to conclude the hearings and deliver its verdict on the discharge petitions by April 30.
Earlier, on December 15, the high court had directed the CBI court to resolve the discharge petitions in 20 of Jagan’s cases within two months. The CBI court noted the extensive examination of records and witness statements required in these cases. Highlighting the advanced stage of the trial, the CBI court mentioned the readiness of approximately 13,000 pages of dictation. Upon its request for additional time, the Telangana High Court granted the extension accordingly.
