The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (AP CEO) of Andhra Pradesh has strongly criticized a video circulated on social media by Jana Sena leader Nagababu regarding the issue of indelible ink. In the video, Nagababu alleges that the ruling YSRCP is enticing voters with money and prematurely marking them with ink to deter them from participating in the elections. Responding to this, the office of Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena issued a statement on ‘X’ platform.
According to the AP CEO’s office, the joint collector, who serves as the returning officer for the Pithapuram assembly constituency where Power Star Pawan Kalyan is contesting, refuted these allegations in a video message, asserting that they are baseless. The office clarified that only officials appointed by the Election Commission of India have the authority to administer indelible ink. Additionally, it warned of severe consequences for those involved in illicit activities using alternative inks. Nagababu shared a screenshot of the video titled ‘Fact Check’ on ‘X’ and emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing it on social media. They also included hashtags like Verify Before You Amplify and Combat Misinformation in their post.
