Andhra cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who represented team India at the International level, often made headlines throughout his career for losing his temper while playing on the field. This is one of the biggest stumbling blocks that hampered him from scaling big heights despite having an abundance of talent.
When he bid goodbye to all forms of cricket and decided to take a plunge into politics, many expressed doubt whether he could succeed in serving the public with his impulsive and short temper. Quite expectedly, his political career also ended momentarily.
Rayudu, who joined the ruling YSRCP in the last week of December, made a shocking announcement yesterday through his X platform. He announced that he was quitting politics for a little while without giving any reasons.
Reliable reports stated that Rayudu was upset for not being considered to contest as Guntur MP in the upcoming elections as promised earlier by the party high command. This is because Jagan Mohan Reddy was planning to pitch Lavu Krishna Devarayulu as Guntur MP. Irked with this development, Rayudu quickly announced he was quitting YSRCP with immediate effect.
After a day, Rayudu came up with a reason to support his decision. He said he will be representing the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming ILt20 from jan 20th in Dubai, which requires him to be politically non affiliated whilst playing professional sport.
This announcement immediately invited a lot of criticism on Rayudu as many called it as a nice ‘Cover Drive’ to cover up his resentment over the YSRCP’s decision ignoring his candidature to contest from Guntur parliament seat.
If Rayudu wanted to take a break for playing cricket, he should have informed yesterday itself when he announced his decision to quit politics. Moreover, changing his stance in just less than two weeks after joining politics is another reason why he has become a sitting duck for everyone to target.
