Icon Star Allu Arjun is reportedly in discussions to play the titular role in the cinematic adaptation of Shaktimaan, one of Indian television’s most iconic superhero characters. The project, backed by Sony Pictures, is expected to be helmed by Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph, known for the critically acclaimed Minnal Murali.
According to reports, the new Shaktimaan film aims to reimagine the character by blending traditional Indian mythological elements with a modern superhero narrative. The film will reportedly feature high-end production values and a contemporary storyline, designed to appeal to a global audience. Alongside Sony Pictures and Geetha Arts, two other international production houses are said to be collaborating on the film.
If finalized, this project could further cement Allu Arjun’s pan-India appeal following the nationwide success of Pushpa: The Rise. Industry analysts believe that taking on such an iconic role could serve as a significant career milestone for the National Award-winning actor.
Previously, actor Ranveer Singh’s name was linked to the Shaktimaan project, but recent developments suggest Allu Arjun is now the front-runner. An official confirmation, however, is awaited.
In parallel, Allu Arjun is also preparing for a high-budget action film with KGF director Prashanth Neel under producer Dil Raju’s banner. The Shaktimaan project, if greenlit, could potentially mark the actor’s 23rd or 24th film and is expected to be a landmark entry in India’s superhero film landscape.
