Director Prasanth Varma, who launched his Cinematic Universe (PVCU) with the pan-India blockbuster HanuMan released during last year’s Sankranti, is expanding the franchise with a series of new projects. The third film in the lineup, titled Mahakali, will be a female-led superhero film. While Prasanth Varma has penned the story, Pooja Aparna Kolluru will direct the project.
In a major update, Prasanth announced that Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna will portray Shukracharya in Mahakali. Sharing a new poster, he described the character as “a blazing force of rebellion rising in the shadow of the gods.” Prasanth earlier revealed that the film will introduce “a new power” to the PVCU, depicting the incarnation of Goddess Kali emerging to fight the most fearsome evil and exploring the essence of superheroes.
As part of the same cinematic universe, another film titled Adheera was recently announced, featuring S. J. Suryah and Kalyan Dasari in lead roles. The superhero project will be directed by Sharan Koppisetty.
