Chandigarh: Punjab is reeling under its worst flood crisis in 37 years following heavy rains, leaving widespread devastation across the state. Several film celebrities have stepped forward to support relief efforts, with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar announcing a contribution of ₹5 crore.
In an interview, Akshay clarified that he does not consider it a donation but a service to people. “I don’t like the word donation. Who am I to donate? Whenever I get an opportunity to help others, I see it as a blessing. This is just a small contribution from my side,” he said.
Akshay Kumar has been consistently involved in humanitarian efforts, having extended support during the Chennai floods, the Covid-19 pandemic, and to families of soldiers through the Bharat Ke Veer initiative.
