Kamal Haasan is the epitome of versatility in the world of cinema, renowned for his exceptional talent across acting, directing, producing, singing, screenwriting, and more. He is the true powerhouse of Indian cinema, who has captivated audiences through his versatile performance, proving himself not only as a multifaceted artist but also as a television host, social activist, and politician.
The star actor garnered immense admiration and love all across the globe and was affectionately called by his fans as ‘Ulaganayagan’ and ‘Aandavar’. However, Kamal Haasan recently issued a statement and respectfully declined all the titles and prefixes to his name.
In the statement written in both Tamil and English, he expressed deep gratitude for endearing titles such as ‘Ulaganayagan’ but humbly declined them, explaining that an artist must not be elevated above the art. He conveyed that he wishes to be addressed simply as Kamal Haasan or Kamal or KH, a step towards staying grounded.
He wrote, “I humbly request that all my fans, the media, members of film fraternity, party cadre, and fellow Indians, to here on after, refer to me simply as Kamal Haasan or Kamal or KH.”
This is not the first time a star actor has requested fans to drop prefixes. Earlier, Ajith Kumar issued a note and requested fans and media to address him without honorary prefixes as ‘Thala’. He urged them to refer to him as Ajith Kumar or Ajith or AK.
