Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer mythological drama Adipurush was initially supposed to make it to the screens in 2022. Due to the delay in the post-production activities, the makers have announced that it will hit the screens on January 12th, 2023. However, after receiving negative feedback on the VFX effects and CG work in the teaser from all quarters, they have decided to postpone the film to June 2023 to come up with a better output. Unfortunately, the film’s release is likely to get delayed further as per the latest buzz in film circles.
Director Om Raut and his team are currently scratching their heads about the release plans. Though they have announced that the film will unspool in theatres worldwide on June 16th, 2023, they are now not sure if they could meet the deadline as they are planning to reshoot some scenes and also get the VFX work for the entire film again to enhance the visuals. Also, the production house is thinking about whether it is an ideal decision to release a pan-India film in June as more than 600 Crores is riding on it and a few other big-ticket films are set for release in the same month.
If they miss out on this date, they have to release the film for the Dusheera festival or shift it to Sankranti or Summer 2024 which will ensure better openings at the box office. There is no clarity right now on when the film will release. They want to complete the pending work in the next six months and then decide on when to release the film.
