Adipurush producers inflate box office figures for publicity

After claiming a 140 Crore opening, the makers of Prabhas-front-lined Adipurush, a mythological drama that is loosely based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, have stated that the film collected a whopping 100 Crores on its second day. They released a poster announcing that the film punched out 240 Crores gross worldwide in two days. However, the genuine collections are far from what the makers are claiming.

As per reliable trade estimates, Adipurush collected close to 200 Crores gross in two days. Despite bad reviews and below-par word of mouth, the film held well in North India and registered strong numbers. But, the collections in Telugu States are a little bit disappointing. In areas like Ceeded of Andhra Pradesh, the film’s collections dropped heavily. In the remaining areas, the occupancies are moderate. In USA, the film surpassed the $2.2 million mark by the end of Saturday. The other overseas locations witnessed a significant drop in the numbers. In Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the collections are not so promising.

The makers have inflated the collections and released the poster with 240 Crores only to get trolled by netizens. Many are pointing out these numbers are just confined to the posters only. True that the collections are decent despite the embarrassing verdict given by moviegoers. But, projecting overblown numbers will only invite further criticism and there is no point in exaggerating the numbers when the response is very disappointing.

Analysts have already predicted that it will end as a loss venture in many major locations of South India because it was sold for exorbitant prices.
