Bollywood actor and politician Govinda was admitted to the hospital after accidentally suffering a gunshot wound to his leg. He was rushed to the nearest hospital, CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai, early this morning.
The incident reportedly occurred at his Juhu residence around 4:45 AM today, while the actor was checking his licensed revolver before heading to Kolkata in the early hours. The revolver accidentally slipped from his hand, leading to a misfire that injured his leg.
Providing an update on his condition, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, stated, “Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena Leader Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata when the incident occurred. He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired, which hit his leg. The doctor has removed the bullet, and his condition is fine. He is in the hospital right now.”
The Mumbai police are currently investigating the incident after seizing his weapon. Mumbai police also confirmed Govinda’s condition is stable and the injury is not serious.
Govinda expressed his gratitude following the incident by sharing an audio message in which he thanked the doctors who treated him and his fans for their prayers.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has extended his wishes for a speedy recovery to the actor and politician Govinda, who earlier joined the Sena Party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
