Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun has been detained by the police in connection with the stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre, RTC Cross Road, during the release of his latest film Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Details of the Incident

The Sukumar-directed film Pushpa 2: The Rule premiered on December 4, a day ahead of its worldwide release on December 5. A special screening was held at 9:40 PM at Sandhya Theatre, attracting a massive crowd of fans.

Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav stated that the theatre management failed to inform the police about the attendance of Allu Arjun and other key actors, nor did they implement adequate safety measures. “The management did not arrange private security at the entry and exit points to handle the crowd. When Allu Arjun arrived with his personal security team, the crowd surged, and the security personnel began pushing fans, which led to a stampede,” the DCP explained.

The incident tragically resulted in the death of Revathi, a resident of Dilsukhnagar. She and her family fell during the chaos, and despite police efforts to rescue them, Revathi succumbed to her injuries. Her 13-year-old son, Sriteja, received CPR at the scene and was rushed to a hospital, where he was later referred for further treatment.

A case was registered based on a complaint by the victim’s family. Following investigations, the police detained Allu Arjun on Friday. Further inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
