Bollywood’s most experimental actor, Aamir Khan, known for his bold choices with his films, has also made a bold move with the release strategy of his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par. With this comedy-drama slated for a theatrical premiere on June 20, 2025, the film is now drawing attention for its surprising twist in its post-theatrical release.
Instead of choosing any popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Jio Hotstar, Zee 5, and many others, interestingly, Aamir Khan has taken a new step and has reportedly decided to release the film on YouTube using a pay-per-view model, making it accessible to a wide audience, but not for free.
Sources from Hollywood Reporter India suggest that Khan is heading straight to YouTube after its two-month theatrical run. If confirmed, this move would mark a first for Bollywood to skip OTT release and opt for YouTube pay-per-view.
It is said that Aamir made this decision to encourage cinema lovers to experience the film on the big screen before it lands online. By avoiding streaming platforms, it will lead to keeping full control over pricing and distribution without any share to platforms.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film is produced by Aamir Khan under his production house Aamir Khan Productions in association with Ravi Bahgchandka and Aparna Purohit. Genelia Deshmukh stars opposite Aamir Khan as the leading lady in this flick.
