Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par Faces Last-Minute Roadblock

Friday, December 5, 2025

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s new movie Sitaare Zameen Par has faced unforeseen challenges just a few days shy of its planned release. The R.S. Prasanna-directed movie was to open in theatres on June 20, but now hangs precariously in the balance owing to a delay in certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

According to inside reports, the CBFC was worried about a couple of scenes in the movie, suggesting two such cuts prior to giving clearance. But Aamir Khan has allegedly declined to make those changes, sticking to the original vision of the movie. According to project insiders, Aamir feels the contested scenes are emotive and an integral part of the story’s impact.

In a bid to solve the issue, Aamir allegedly personally approached CBFC authorities and requested them to weigh the narrative context of the scenes. Along with director R.S. Prasanna, he reportedly made it known that these scenes were written with utmost care and any cuts would undermine the emotional depth of the movie.

Despite these deliberations, the CBFC has not yet identified which scenes are responsible for the objections, and the certification process is still pending. With time running out, the delay has put a cloud over the film’s intended release schedule.

Sitare Zameen Par has a runtime of 2 hours and 35 minutes and was expected to open in around 3,500 theatres across India. If the certification issue is resolved soon, advance bookings are likely to begin immediately after.

Fans are now eagerly waiting for an official update from Aamir Khan’s team, hoping that the film will hit the big screens as planned.
