Hyderabad: The Telangana Energy Department has mandated Aadhaar verification for beneficiaries of the ‘Gruhajyothi’ free electricity scheme through a gazette notification. Registration under the scheme requires completion of Aadhaar verification using biometric methods, overseen by Distribution Companies (Discoms). Individuals without Aadhaar must apply for it immediately and present proof of application.
Alternative identification documents are accepted until Aadhaar is issued. Biometric verification includes fingerprint or iris scans, with Discoms ensuring necessary arrangements. In case of device failure, Aadhaar registration can be verified via OTP or by scanning the QR code. Discoms must adhere to regulations for beneficiary selection, with comprehensive guidelines expected soon.
