The politically sensitive former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case has taken a new turn with a Circle Inspector of Police, who was suspended in this murder case, has directly sent a legal notice to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. It has been creating political uproar in the state.
Shankaraiah, who worked as the Circle Inspector of Police at Pulivendula, during the Viveka murder case, has now sent legal notices to Chandrababu Naidu. In the legal notices, Shankaraiah stated that Chandrababu Naidu not only made baseless allegations against him in this case but also spoke in a way that tarnished his reputation, for which he should pay him a compensation of Rs 1.45 crore and publicly apologize in the Assembly.
Shankaraiah sent these legal notices to Chandrababu Naidu through his lawyer G. Dharaneswara Reddy. Several allegations were made against Shankaraiah, who worked as the CI in the Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case. At that time serious accusations were made against him in making attempt to dilute the case and also cover up real culprits.
However, in his statement to the CBI, Shankaraiah said that MP Avinash Reddy and his aide Devireddy Sivashankar Reddy had threatened him not to register a case against Viveka. CI Shankaraiah had also told the CBI that they had threatened not to send the body of YS Vivekananda Reddy for postmortem and not to tell anyone about the injuries on the body.
But he did not come to give his statement before the magistrate, saying that he had other work to do and was away. However, after the YSRCP government came to power, the suspension on Shankaraiah was lifted on October 6, 2021. The CBI told the court that CI Shankaraiah changed his mind under the influence of the accused.
Shankaraiah is currently in VR in Kurnool range. He sent notices through his lawyer on the 18th of this month that Chandrababu Naidu had made baseless allegations against him in the Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case. Now, this case is under investigation in the Supreme Court. Now, this matter has taken a new turn with CI Shankaraiah sending notices directly to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
