A litmus test for Vijay and Samantha with Kushi

Kushi, starring Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha in the lead roles, is set for release this coming Friday. It has been a while since Tollywood witnessed a full-length romantic entertainer. After Sita Ramam, barring a few youthful dramas, Telugu audiences haven’t got to see a clean-slate rom-com till now. So, Kushi generated a good buzz after the mesmerizing posters and delightful songs struck a chord with all sections of moviegoers. The trailer with relatable characters further amplified the hype on the film.

The lead pair of Kushi is the biggest draw. Vijay Devarakonda commands a good following among youth. Even though his previous outings tanked heavily at the box office, his handsome appearance in song promos and trailers received positive feedback from all quarters. On the other side, Samantha can also pull audiences to theatres with the stardom she earned over the years. Her presence is another reason why Kushi has been creating strong waves everywhere.

With Kushi, both Vijay and Samantha will face a big challenge at the box office. They will need to score a big hit with this film because a lot of money is riding on it. Kushi should collect more than 60 Crores to emerge as a hit venture. The bookings in overseas are lukewarm as of now. Still five days to go for release. No doubt, the openings are going to be decent. But, the film will require positive word of mouth from the first day to sustain at the box office for at least a couple of weeks.

Many notable ticket films are slated for release in the coming weeks. So, Kushi will need unanimous reviews to perform well in all territories. A big hit is required for the lead pair and director Shiva Nirvana.
