'Eesha' starring Hebah Patel and others is the latest horror thriller from the Telugu film industry. With solid promotions, it grabbed everyone's attention and the paid premieres of the film received good response. Now in the following review we want to find out how the film was made.
Story:
Troubled by the death of her maid's daughter due to blind superstition, Naina (Hebah Patel) and her friends decide to expose fake gurus from various religions who prey on people's fears. Your group focuses on Dr. Adidev (Prithveeraj), a famous neurologist who has become a swami.
When they confront him, Adidev tells them to stay in a haunted house for three days to prove that ghosts don't exist. The rest of the story is about what happens in the end.
performances:
Hebah Patel, Thrigun, Akhil Raj and Siri Hanumanth play the lead roles. But apart from a few emotional scenes with Siri, their characters don't offer much scope for strong performances. Prithveeraj has a well-written role and delivers a decent performance.
analysis:
The film was written and directed by Srinivas Manne. It's a true horror thriller with no commercial elements and stays focused on its theme throughout. The opening sequence with a child is effective.
The scenes where Naina and her friends expose fake swamis are handled reasonably well. With the introduction of Dr. Adidev's character makes the film even more exciting. A small accident that occurs around the same time and later escalates into a major conflict is also well told. Even though there are no strong jump scares or intense thrills in the first half, the film manages to keep the viewer's interest.
But the film loses momentum when the group enters the haunted house. The usual horror sounds and scare tactics don't achieve the desired effect. The emotional moments between the characters are also weak. The makers rely heavily on the twist just before the climax. If viewers catch it early on, it may not impress them, but for those who don't see it coming, it may be surprising.
Positive:
- Some well-executed jump scares
- Background assessment
- Effective dialogues in a few places
Negatives:
- Stupid/irritating characterizations
- Routine thrill/horror bits
- Not so noticeable twist at the end
Eesha review and verdict:
Overall, “Eesha” is a serious attempt at making a true horror thriller with some notable scenes. However, the overall impact of the film remains average as it fails to consistently deliver strong thrills or effective jump scares.
