Thursday, December 11, 2025

Prominent actor Sai Durga Tej has raised concerns over the misuse of social media and the rise of abusive comments online, particularly on platforms used by children such as Facebook and Instagram. Speaking at the Abhayam Monsoon-25 conference, Tej suggested that children’s accounts should be linked to either their Aadhaar number or a parent’s phone number to instill accountability and discourage harmful behavior.

Tej shared his personal experiences with online harassment, noting that he frequently receives derogatory comments targeting him and his family on Instagram. “I am an adult and can handle such comments, but how would a child understand or cope with this?” he asked. To underscore the seriousness of the issue, he read some of the abusive messages aloud on stage, leaving the audience surprised and drawing attention to the psychological impact of online abuse.

The actor also opened up about his personal life, revealing that intrusive media speculation about his marriage contributed to the end of his college relationship. He emphasized that any future announcements about his personal life would be made by him personally at the appropriate time, urging the media to respect his privacy.
