Former minister and senior YSRCP leader Perni Nani has come down heavily on Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy and the ruling alliance in Andhra Pradesh, accusing them of indulging in vendetta politics and suppressing opposition voices.
In a scathing press statement, Perni Nani ridiculed Vemireddy Prashanthi by calling her “Mahanati,” sarcastically referencing her image makeover within political circles. He said that while TDP leader Kollu Ravindra praises her as a “Mahatalli,” it was actually the Vemireddy family who instructed officials to halt mining operations in Nellore district — a move that has now been spun into a badge of honor.
Targeting Kollu Ravindra directly, Nani dubbed him the “biggest daytime performer” in Andhra politics and criticized his double standards. He lashed out at the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition, alleging that the government has brought back the era of false cases and intimidation, reminiscent of previous TDP regimes. He warned that the YSRCP will fight such unlawful cases legally and expose the misuse of power in the courts.
Nani didn’t hold back on Nara Lokesh either. He alleged that although Chandrababu Naidu holds the Chief Minister post, it is Lokesh who is running the government from behind the scenes. He said the TDP panicked when a BC woman leader questioned their governance, reacting like a “scared cat” — showing their intolerance towards dissent.
He also condemned what he described as targeted harassment against ZP Chairperson Uppala Harika and her family. According to Nani, not only was Harika assaulted, but her husband Uppala Ramu was also falsely implicated in a police case — a move he termed as cruel and politically motivated.
Referring to an earlier incident, Nani revealed that when former minister Kodali Nani injured his hand while tearing down a flex banner, the ruling party allegedly manipulated the situation to file a fabricated complaint involving a vehicle.
Perni Nani accused the coalition government of creating unrest and then shifting blame by registering cases against YSRCP leaders. He claimed that for the past 13 months, the focus has been less on governance and more on silencing opposition voices through police cases. He also alleged that TDP leaders were behind recent tensions in Gudivada and warned that the ruling parties were deliberately targeting YSRCP leaders who remain actively involved with the public.
