Bollywood Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has voiced her perspective on age-related biases faced by women, particularly highlighting the contrasting treatment of older women in the film industry versus politics. Speaking on Instagram, Kangana noted that while the film industry often reacts negatively to aging actresses, politics tends to show more respect and compassion toward senior women leaders.
“My spiritual mindset has never feared age. However, within the film industry, the sight of gray hair often causes panic, leading to the use of color sprays. It feels refreshing to be in a space where age is not a barrier. Growing older is a joy,” Kangana wrote in her Instagram story. She also shared candid photos without makeup to reinforce her message. Kangana asked rhetorically if politics is kinder to older women than the film industry, answering affirmatively.
Kangana has frequently expressed candid opinions about Bollywood’s portrayal of social themes. Recently, she criticized films for misrepresenting marriage and urged a more respectful depiction of elders in joint families. She stressed the importance of individuals fulfilling their responsibilities genuinely and cautioned that excessive personal struggles for recognition could result in isolation.
Currently serving as the Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana remains actively engaged in political work and shares updates from Parliament and her constituency with her followers. In her cinematic career, Kangana was last seen in the film Emergency, which is based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
