Diwali release ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ starring Malayalam lover boy Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshii Chaudhary in the lead roles is setting the ticket windows ringing with its impressive run in the first weekend, thanks to the unanimous reviews and glowing word of mouth. The film is all set to surpass the 50 Crore gross in the next two days and emerge as a blockbuster.
Keeping aside the blockbuster run, Tollywood moviegoers are surprised why director Venky Atluri and producer Naga Vamshi preferred a Malayalam actor instead of choosing a Telugu star for this wonderful script. Many are of the opinion that the film would have become a bigger hit had a Telugu actor starred in it.
Reportedly, Natural Star Nani was the first option to play the lead protagonist in this thriller. Sources revealed that Venky Atluri initially narrated the story to Nani but failed to convince him. Though Nani like the narrative, he didn’t show much interest in Lucky Bhaskar because he already played the character of a married middle-class man in films like Jersey and Hi Nanna. He felt that it would be monotony to reprise a similar role again and rejected the offer.
Had Nani played the lead character in Lucky Bhaskar, the box office verdict would have been a bigger one than what it is now because of his stardom and craze. Unfortunately, Nani missed a big opportunity to score a massive blockbuster.
So, Nani’s loss is Dulquer Salman’s gain. The Mahanati actor has now scored three blockbusters in Tollywood. He previous hit Sita Ramam made him a household name and he is now set to shine further with the success of Lucky Bhaskar.
