Arshad Warsi and Prabhas Clash: MAA Fires Back with Official Statement to CINETAA

Monday, November 25, 2024

Recently, in an interview, Arshad Warsi, known for his role in Munna Bhai, made controversial remarks about the blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD and its lead actor Prabhas, calling him a ‘joker.’ These comments have sparked backlash from the Telugu film industry, with celebrities such as Nani, Sudheer Babu, and Sharwanand, along with numerous fans, expressing their disapproval. Arshad Warsi has not yet addressed the criticism.

Today, Vishnu Manchu, President of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), responded to the controversy with an official letter addressed to Ms. Poonam Dhillon, President of the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINETAA).

In his letter, Vishnu Manchu remarked, “Arshad Warsi, a well-regarded actor, recently expressed his views on the film Kalki 2898 AD. However, his disparaging comment about actor Prabhas has caused distress within the Telugu film industry. In today’s social media-driven era, where comments can rapidly gain traction, it’s essential for public figures to be cautious with their words. Warsi’s remark has, regrettably, generated considerable negativity among film fans.”

Vishnu continued, “I trust that CINETAA, known for its commitment to unity and respect in the film industry, will align with our view that such comments should be avoided going forward. We urge that Mr. Arshad Warsi be advised against making disparaging remarks about fellow actors in the future. It is crucial to uphold the dignity and respect every colleague deserves, irrespective of their regional background.”
