KCR Pens Lengthy Letter to CM Revanth Reddy, Declines State Celebration Invitation

Sunday, April 20, 2025

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has received a 22-page open letter from BRS chief and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. As the state government celebrates a decade since Telangana’s formation, KCR has been invited to join the festivities. However, in his letter, KCR announced that his party would not participate in the state formation celebrations organized by the government. He stated that the BRS is protesting against what they perceive as Congress’s tendencies to undermine Telangana’s existence, emphasizing the need to shift focus toward welfare and development.

In his letter, KCR accused the state government of consistently insulting the BRS. He underscored that the formation of Telangana was the result of a prolonged people’s struggle and the sacrifices of martyrs, which the Congress is now claiming credit for. KCR recounted the movement’s various stages since 1969 and criticized the Congress for its historical opposition, including the 1952 Mulki movement when Congress forces opened fire on students. He argued that the Congress’s actions have led Telangana towards economic recession, making it inappropriate for BRS and Telangana activists to join the government’s celebrations.
