Telugu film HanuMan is creating a rampage at the US box office in the first weekend. Made on a modest budget, the devotional extravaganza is having a sensational run over biggies like Guntur Kaaram and Saindhav.
After taking a solid start with $ 386K from Thursday premieres, HanuMan went on a record-breaking spree with a mind-blowing haul on Friday as it punched out $ 518K. Due to the unanimous reports and terrific word of mouth, the film put on a phenomenal show on Saturday with a $ 750K gross. This is an unbelievable run for a small film in the history of Tollywood. It is likely to end the first weekend with more than $ 2 M gross.
Meanwhile, much anticipated Guntur Kaaram is turning out to be a huge letdown for trade circles as it is struggling to add decent revenues. Due to the strong hype for the Trivikram – Mahesh combination, the film took an earth-shattering opening in USA with $ 1.5 Million gross from Thursday premieres. However, the poor reports have impacted the first-day numbers very badly. The film collected $ 389K on Friday. Very shocking is that the film is unable to cross $ 300K on Saturday. It will end below $ 2.5 M in the first weekend.
Another Sankranti biggie Saindhav also unable to perform on par with expectations. The film secured below average openings with $ 83K from premieres and added another $ 50K on first day.
Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga collected $ 20K from premieres.
