Ram Pothineni starrer Skanda initially created a lot of buzz with powerful posters and foot-tapping songs featuring Sree Leela. The formulaic trailer with monotonous action episodes and an overdose of violence killed the buzz to some extent. Now, the makers unveiled an item song to up the ante. Unfortunately, the song will do no favour because it is highly disappointing just in the first hearing itself.
‘Cult Mama’ featuring sultry siren Urvashi Rautela in a sizzling avatar is quite underwhelming because there is nothing great to write home about its tune and lyrics. The only takeaway from the song is the lavish set in which it was shot. Urvashi spices up the song with her glamour and dance moves, but the tune doesn’t stack up with the expectations of an item number.
SS Thaman’s trademark mass beat is clearly missing from this song. Anantha Sriram’s lyrics are so-so. Singers Hema Chandra, Ramya Behera, and Mahaa tried to enliven the song but couldn’t add much vigor to it because of poor rendition and substandard lyrics.
Ram appears in different avatars and performs regular dance moves choreographed by Prem Rakshit master.
Overall, this is a disappointing end to the album. During the audio launch event, Ram said there is an item song that will appeal to the masses. However, it doesn’t live up to the high expectations.
Skanda is slated for release on September 29th.
