Tollywood writer Vakkantham Vamshi’s desperate attempts to prove his mettle as a director are turning out to be a big failure. After receiving a massive jolt with his debut film ‘Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India’, starring Allu Arjun in the lead role, Vamshi decided to give up direction and concentrate only on writing stories. But, that didn’t give him any respite as he received a huge shock in the form of Akhil’s Agent, which ended as an epic disaster. He provided the script for that film.
So, Vamshi once again donned the director’s hat for Nithiin’s latest film ‘Extra’ with the tagline Ordinary Man. It seems like this film going to be another big setback in his career because the openings are quite disappointing. As the critic ratings and the public talk are very poor, there are hardly any chances that I will gain momentum in the weekend.
Barring a few entertaining scenes, Extra is a lousy attempt with lackluster narration and pointless storytelling. Trade circles predict that the film will be a big loss venture for the buyers.
So, Vamshi’s dreams about making an impact as a director are likely to dent further with this film.
Vamshi is credited with success when he penned scripts for films like Kick, Temper, Yevadu and Race Gurram. He bagged debacles with Kick 2, Ashok, Aradugula Bullet etc.
With a disappointing 2023, Vamshi’s confidence took a huge beating as both Agent and Extra didn’t fetch him the desired credit. He will need to reinvent his writing skills to survive from now onwards.
