Reigning pan-India superstar Prabhas is redefining box-office benchmarks for his films. With the nationwide success of Baahubali series, Prabhas attained popularity all over the country like no other actor in any film industry. His movies after Baahubali have been finding patronage beyond Telugu States, making him a star for all languages.
After disappointing moviegoers and critics with his immediate outings post Baahubali 2, Prabhas made a comeback of sorts with Salaar and Kalki 2898AD. He shattered numerous box office records with both these films. While Salaar failed to clock 1000 Crores, but emerged as a big hit, he is likely to manage to achieve the feat with Kalki very soon. The science fiction thriller will join the elite club of highest grossing Indian films with 1000 Crores gross by the end of this weekend.
With Kalki, Prabhas once again proved that he is the biggest crowd puller in the country. Without SS Rajamouli and Neel, he managed to score a solid hit with a young director and that too with a novel attempt without proper commercial elements. The box office range of Prabhas has been elevated to a notch higher with the success of Kalki 2898AD.
For Prabhas, 1000 Crores is the new
box-office benchmark that will define the status of his upcoming films. It is not an exaggeration to say that films which don’t enter this club will be termed as average and those which surpass the mark will be accorded super hit status from now onwards.
Not just in India, Prabhas made a solid impact in overseas territories as well. In North America, Kalki is on the verge of becoming the second highest grossing film of all time with only Baahubali 2 ahead of it. For his next films, $ 10 million mark will be the default benchmark target.
Prabhas has a solid line-up of films after Kalki. He will team up with Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for a cop drama Spirit. He also need to complete much anticipated sequels, Salaar 2 and Kalki 2. So, he will once again target the prestigious 1000 Crore club with these three films.
