Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila has launched a scathing attack on YSRCP leader and former minister RK Roja, following Roja’s criticism that Sharmila was targeting her brother, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for political benefit. In a fiery response, Sharmila questioned the YSRCP’s moral standing to speak about blood ties, family loyalty, or sisterhood.
Speaking to the media, Sharmila said, “Those who have truly experienced betrayal understand the real meaning of blood ties. The most hurtful attacks against me didn’t come from strangers, but from people within my own home. They spread vile rumours, questioned my character, and even attempted to discredit my identity as YSR’s daughter. These weren’t just political smears — they were deeply personal assaults.”
Recalling her unwavering support for Jagan in the past, Sharmila highlighted the sacrifices she made. “I left behind my husband and children to walk over 3,000 kilometers across the state in a padayatra — not for politics, but for my brother. If he had asked for my life then, I would have given it without hesitation. That’s the value I place on blood relationships.”
Taking a direct swipe at Jagan, she added, “The day you chose to distance yourself from your own mother and sister was the day you walked away from humanity. Someone who disrespects his own family has no right to speak about love, values, or loyalty.”
Sharmila also lashed out at RK Roja, saying, “Roja should be the last person to speak on family or relationships. The YSRCP has systematically destroyed its own bonds — they don’t get to preach about values they no longer uphold.”
Setting the record straight on her political position, Sharmila made it clear: “As the daughter of YSR, I will never align with Chandrababu Naidu. The people of Andhra Pradesh know who supported whom. It was Jagan who backed the BJP for five years — the very party my father stood firmly against. That’s a fact I won’t forget.”
