Sree Vishnuwho hit the jackpot with his last single, is back with Vishnu Vinyasam, which hit theaters today. The film's teaser promised a hilarious ride. Does it deliver? Here is our review.
Story
Vishnu Vinyasam tells the story of a man who strongly believes in astrology. As a junior lecturer, he meets a girl and falls in love. The rest of the film explores the twist fate has in store for his love life and how it unfolds.
performances
Sree Vishnu tries again to carry the film with his comedy. He makes some scenes hilarious with his timing and unusual dialogues. But he finds it difficult to consistently deliver excellent performances because the script doesn't give him enough drive.
Nayan Sarika plays the female lead. Her character plays an important role in the script and performance wise she is okay. However, their characterization is not convincing. Satya has a long role, but only manages to laugh in a few scenes. Murali Sharma, Satyam Rajesh, Goparaju Ramana, BrahmajiAnd Praveen don't get much leeway.
Direction and analysis
director Yadunath Maruthi Rao Vishnu Vinyasam builds on the foundation of an interesting concept interwoven with fun, chaotic routines. In the first half, Sree Vishnu provides entertainment with his trademark energy and comic timing in select scenes.
But the film doesn't achieve the hilarious impact it's aiming for. The scenes drag on and the proceedings lose momentum. The intermission sequence works hilariously and raises hopes for the second half.
Struggles in the second half
The second half starts on a fun note. Scenes involving marriage manipulation work well. But here too the film loses pace as the sequences are unnecessarily drawn out.
An attempt is made to bring emotions close to the climax. Although the twist regarding the Jatakam works, the climax fails to provide the required entertainment. The revelation does not provide the necessary kick.
Positive
- Sree Vishnu's comic timing and mannerisms in select scenes
- The interval episode
Negatives
- Boring second half
- The comedy misses its mark after the break
- Weak music
- Lack of due process
Verdict
Vishnu Vinyasam has funny moments and decent impact in the first half. But the second half lacks continuity, with overstretched, repetitive scenes and poor emotional beats. Sree Vishnu Fans may find some entertainment, but the film needed more precise editing to really work.
