Visakhapatnam’s Political Scene is Changing Fast

Visakhapatnam, often called the “city of destiny,” has a super welcoming vibe. People who come here for jobs or business often jump into politics and climb up to big roles like MP, MLA, or minister. Right now, the whole Visakha area has 3 seats for MPs and 15 for the state assembly. But after the next big boundary review, that could shoot up to 23 seats—so more chances for new faces.

Could We Get Another MP Seat?

Everyone’s talking about adding one more parliamentary seat for Visakha. This has hopeful politicians excited. The district already covers Visakha, Anakapalli, and Araku. But with more people, huge areas like Bhimili, Pendurthi, and Gajuwaka—each with over 300,000 voters—might split into two separate seats. Payakaraopeta could also break into two, and a new assembly seat called Visakhapatnam East might pop up.

Bringing Back Old Seats from 2009

Some seats that existed before 2009 might return. Paravada could break away from Pendurthi to become its own constituency.
