Former MLA and YCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi remand has been extended until the 25th of this month by the court. He was arrested in the case of kidnapping and threatening complainant Satyav Vardhan in the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office.
As Vamsi’s remand ends on Tuesday, the jail authorities virtually produced him before the magistrate from the jail. In view of his being an accused in several cases, the magistrate has taken a decision to extend Vamsi’s remand until the 25th of this month. Vamsi is already a remand prisoner.
Meanwhile, Vamsi and five others are in the district jail in this case. The police recently filed a petition to give Vamsi 10 days’ custody for questioning, but the court gave him only three days’ custody. However, the police said that Vamsi did not cooperate at all in the investigation.
After the police failed to answer the questions asked, they filed a petition seeking 10 more days of custody again. However, the SC and ST court issued orders dismissing the police’s petition. On the other hand, the court, which heard Vamsi’s petition to change the barracks, made it clear that it was not possible to change the barracks.
However, the court made it clear that it would provide a pillow and blanket due to health reasons. Now, after the custody petition was dismissed, arguments are being held in the SC and ST court only on the bail petition.
While arguments have already been held once, the prosecutor has argued that the police have collected much evidence that the entire Satya Vardhan kidnapping affair happened under Vamsi’s watch, and that if he is granted bail again, there is a possibility of completely tampering with the evidence.
Vamsi’s lawyers argued that bail should be granted due to health reasons. Arguments have been made to grant him bail after the remand has already been extended twice. However, the court is likely to take a decision on this after hearing arguments again on Wednesday.
