Wednesday, May 14, 2025

The Union Home Ministry has warned the Telangana state government that sleeper cells affiliated with terrorist organizations have been activated in the backdrop of the war between India and Pakistan and that there is a possibility of carrying out terrorist attacks. In view of the Miss World contest beginning in Hyderabad on Saturday, the central intelligence sources have warned terrorist groups may resort to attacks to create global attention.

As a result, the Telangana police was asked to keep a close eye on Miss World event. In such circumstances, providing complete security for the beauty pageants for three weeks will be a big challenge for them. The police have also set up a “Multi-Agency Command Control Center” in the same hotel where the contestants participating in the Miss World pageants are staying.

Counter intelligence teams have been deployed. While the police IT department is key in this command control center, about 40 people are looking after various tasks. On the other hand, the hotel and the Gachibowli area have been declared a “no drone” zone, with no possibility of using drones. Only women police have been assigned duties near the hotel.

About 2,000 police officers will be on duty in the hotel and the surrounding area. Two teams have been formed in Octopus. A dog squad is also near the hotel. It is learned that the central intelligence agencies have warned that there are dozens of sleeper cells in Hyderabad and that they should be vigilant about their movements.

It is reported that there is a risk of sleeper cells targeting the Miss World pageants, and strict measures have been taken to ensure the security of beauties and foreign media representatives from those countries, and that tight vigil should be kept on the movements of sleeper cells in Hyderabad.

According to the schedule, after the Miss World opening ceremony on the 10th of this month, all the beauties will visit Buddhavanam in Nagarjunasagar, Charminar in Hyderabad, Lad Bazaar, Warangal Thousand Pillar Temple, Ramappa Temple, Yadagirigutta, Pochampally, and various places in Mahabubnagar from the 12th. It is learnt that the police are concerned that these outdoor events are likely to become a security challenge.
