The Surprising Reason Ajith and Vignesh Shivan’s Movie Was Shelved

Sunday, December 8, 2024

Ajith Kumar, a super star of Kollywood is set to make a much-anticipated comeback on the screens with Vidaa Muyarchi, the movie scheduled to be out this Sankranti. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions, the teaser dropped recently has captured the attention of Ajith’s fans. However, the journey into this film is more exciting than it sounds.

Initially, Ajith was to work with director Vignesh Shivan, who made the hit film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Vignesh said that Ajith fell in love with the character of Parthiban in his film and watched it twice and said he was eager to play a dark role in an entertainer as well. This motivated Vignesh to write a new and different script that would be inspired by films like Avesham starring Fahadh Faasil.

However, when he presented the script to the producers at Lyca Productions, they felt that the tone of the story, which had a comic flavor, wasn’t in tune with what was generally associated with a mass appeal in an Ajith film. Ajith’s films have always had larger-than-life characters, intense drama, and action sequences. Because of this creative difference, the project eventually went on the backburner, making way for Vidaa Muyarchi, which was given a go-ahead.
