Wednesday, July 9, 2025
Hyderabad: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Telangana Cabinet convened a comprehensive meeting focusing primarily on employees’ demands and welfare. The nearly five-and-a-half-hour session involved detailed discussions on reports submitted by officials’ committees concerning employee issues, pending Dearness Allowance (DA) payments, and health security bills, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka confirmed. The cabinet decisions were later shared with the media by Bhatti Vikramarka and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
Significant resolutions passed by the cabinet include the approval of two DA installments for government employees — one immediate payment followed by a second installment after six months. Despite financial constraints on the state treasury, measures aimed at benefiting employees were prioritized. A health insurance trust will be established, requiring employees to contribute ₹500 per month, with matching contributions from the government; funds will be used to cover employees’ medical expenses. The government committed to clearing pending employee-related bills at a minimum of ₹700 crore monthly through phased payments. Compensation of ₹10 lakh was approved for families of 385 women self-help group members who passed away last year. The cabinet also approved naming the Earth Science University in Nalgonda after Manmohan Singh. Further, road modernization projects were sanctioned covering 5,100 km under the R&B department and 7,947 km under Panchayati Raj jurisdiction. Additionally, a metro rail project spanning approximately 86 km was approved, with an estimated budget of ₹19,575 crore.
