Two Police Officers Arrested for Taking Bribe in Cyber Fraud Case

In a major crackdown on corruption, two police officers from Telangana were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe. The incident happened in LB Nagar and involves a cyber crime investigation.

Who Was Involved?

The two arrested officers are Pramod Goud and Jatavath Babu Naik. They worked as Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors at the cyber crime police station in Malkajgiri.

What Did They Do?

The Bribe Demand

The officers were investigating a cyber fraud case where a businessman from Ramanthapur claimed he lost about ₹2 lakh. Instead of doing their job, the cops allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹1 lakh from the businessman.

Their promise? They said they would issue a simple legal notice instead of arresting the suspect in the fraud case. This notice is related to a specific law (Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita).

Catching Them Red-Handed

The businessman felt pressured and reported this to the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB team planned a secret operation. They laid a trap and caught the two officers in the act while they were taking the bribe money.

What Happened After the Arrest?

Both officers were immediately taken into custody by the ACB. After that, they were produced in court. The court has sent them to judicial custody, meaning they will remain in jail until the next hearing.

Investigators are now checking if more people were involved or if there are other similar cases linked to these officers. This is part of the ACB’s larger mission to stop corruption in government offices and make officials accountable for their actions.

Why Should You Care?

This case shows that police corruption is a real issue. It can hurt ordinary people who are already victims of crimes like cyber fraud. The ACB’s action sends a message that no one is above the law, not even those who are supposed to protect us.
