It is quite surprising to see that South India’s Superstar and Megastar are struggling to generate any buzz with their upcoming films that are gearing up for release in the second week of August. They are usually the biggest crowd pullers who can storm the box office when they are in prime form.
Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer is going to unspool in theatres on August 10th. Directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar, the film has Tamannaah Bhatia as the female lead. This big-budget entertainer couldn’t create enough hype with its songs and teasers. It was only Tamannaah’s energetic dance moves in Kaavaalaa song that managed to draw the attention of moviegoers towards this film. The song composed by Anirudh Ravichander turned out to be a rage on YouTube as it garnered more than 8 Crore views. However, the buzz on the film is very low in trade circles as Rajinikanth’s recent outings failed to make an impact.
The same is the fate of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s forthcoming commercial potboiler Bholaa Shankar. Though Chiru’s previous film emerged as the biggest blockbuster in his career, the Meher Ramesh directional is unable to create much buzz despite its entertaining teasers and trailer that presented Chiru in a mass role. Maybe the formulaic set-up and the substandard songs turned out to be a dampener for Bholaa Shankar. Also, Meher Ramesh’s flop streak seems to be playing a significant role in undermining the buzz. The film is slated for release on August 11th.
Both films will now require a positive word of mouth and impressive reviews to overcome the low buzz and perform well at the box office. It remains to be seen if the stardom of both Superstar and Megastar will turn the tables when the films hit the screens.
