Historic Resort Party Disrupted by Drug Raid
A large party at Hyderabad’s Taramati Baradari Resort, a 400-year-old heritage site near Golconda Fort, ended with a police crackdown after drugs were discovered. The event, called “More Than Friends,” was marketed as a fun, couples-friendly gathering with loud music and plenty of alcohol.
What Was the Party Like?
Organizers heavily promoted the event online, drawing around 400 young people from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. It was advertised as a unique experience with a special sound system set up against the historic fort backdrop. However, alcohol flowed freely without the required excise department permission, breaking local rules.
Police Raid and What They Found
Late Saturday, police conducted surprise checks at the resort. They tested many guests and identified six individuals who had used drugs. These people were immediately taken to a rehabilitation center for help. During the raid, officers also seized small quantities of cocaine and MDMA pills, confirming illegal activity at the event.
Who Was Tested and Caught?
Out of the estimated 400 attendees, police tested up to 60 people. Six tested positive for drug use, including Bollywood actor and model Abdul Sarwar, along with Yogeshwar, Abhinash Phani, Brett Jason, and a married couple named Nihar and Ashi. This mix of celebrities and ordinary youth highlighted the party’s broad appeal.
Organizers Under Scrutiny
The event is believed to have been organized by a person named Chandra, with others possibly involved behind the scenes. Police are now focusing on how the drugs entered the venue and whether the party had any official permits. The lack of excise department permission for serving alcohol is a key issue being investigated.
Aftermath and Bigger Questions
Following the raid, police gathered contact information from guests who were not linked to drug use.
