The AP state government suffered a setback from the High Court after it issued an interim order staying further action against the police officers who had sought to quash the case registered against them by the Ibrahimpatnam police based on a complaint filed by Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani. The hearing on the quash petitions has been adjourned to June 30.
Justice N. Harinath issued the interim order to this effect on Thursday. Earlier, Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas, appearing for the prosecution, said that the petitioners have already been granted anticipatory bail. Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani is facing allegations of being arrested and harassed by three IPS officers and several other police officers on the orders of the previous YSRCP government.
There is talk that this episode of harassment was carried out to convince her to withdraw the rape case she had filed against an industrialist in Mumbai. The government is taking action against IPS officers based on the complaint filed by actress Kadambari Jethwani alleging that she and her family members were arrested and harassed. They have approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
IPS officers Vishal Gunni, Kanti Rana Tata, along with ACP Hanumantha Rao and CI Satyanarayana have filed petitions in the High Court. The High Court, which heard the case, has ordered that no further action be taken against them. It has issued orders not to take any action against the accused in the Jethwani case. This seems to have given them a huge relief in this case.
At the same time, the High Court has decided to hold a final hearing on the quash petitions filed by them in the same case on the 30th of this month. If the allegations against them are found to be false, there is a possibility that the case will be completely dismissed.
The government, which is taking action against the IPS officers in the case of harassing a Mumbai actress, has not withdrawn the original case registered earlier against Kadambari Jethwani during the previous government period. Jethwani has already met with Home Minister Anita and other government officials to request that the case against him be withdrawn, but the government remains silent.
