Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who has now forayed into film production, shared candid insights into her early days in the industry during a promotional event for her debut production Shubham on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Samantha reflected on her first two films, expressing a sense of embarrassment when revisiting those performances. “When I watch my first two films now, I feel I could have acted much better. To be honest, it feels a bit embarrassing. I didn’t know much about acting back then, and I now realise how poorly I performed,” she said.
Despite her own initial struggles, Samantha praised the performances in Shubham, which features a cast of newcomers. “All the actors in Shubham are fresh faces, but they’ve delivered outstanding performances. Their work genuinely impressed me,” she noted.
Samantha also reiterated her confidence in the Telugu audience’s support for content-driven cinema. “Audiences here have always embraced films with strong storytelling. I believe Shubham, which is an emotional and heartfelt film, will also be well received,” she said, adding that she wishes the entire cast a successful future.
Addressing her decision to become a producer, Samantha said, “I enjoy taking on new challenges. This marks the beginning of a new journey for me in the film industry.”
Directed by Praveen Kandregula, Shubham stars Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, and Shreya Kontam in lead roles. The film is produced under Samantha’s banner, Tralala Moving Pictures, and is slated for release on May 9.
